Piggy on Linux

undergroundclouds says:

Done some research on this and ive still got a few unanswered questions. Wondered if anyone here might be able to help me out.

So Ive got it running on my arch linux laptop, the sound outputs fine (ran into problems with jack falling back to SDL but it sounds fine so not touching it for now)

Does midi sync work on linux? I cant find the answer online. Has anyone experienced this working and did you have to jump through a bunch of hoops? My plan is to sync with LSDJ through arduinoboy. I have a second laptop, would my time be better spent sticking windows on it and running LGPT from there?

Cheers

Hey all, new member here. I just received an RG350 running OpenDingux, but I'm facing problems running PiggyTracker on it.
I'm using the Dingoo version from the website. The Ghetto build doesn't read my input, while the Stable one does but I'm met with "Failed to initialize audio" when I load any project... I'm guessing I'll have to wait for an official .opk port of the app tailored for the RG350.

Has anyone managed to run it perfectly on the device? Any suggestions?

I backed up a few tracks from my PSP, and then deleted them from my PSP. Just using a USB cable. It was behaving a little weird at first and I had to reboot my PSP to transfer the files. Despite having the .dat, samples and everything, one of the songs just loads up with a blank song screen but the other ones were fine.

Has anyone ever had something like this before? Is it possible to salvage my file somehow? sad

I tried running it on PSP and Windows.

LGPT midi out on RG350 and pocketGo v2

herr_prof says:

Hello,

I just want to understand a bit better what should be done for make RG350 / pocketGoV2 working with midi out with LGPT and how it is supposed to work according to LGPT manual.

I speak about this version :

https://boards.dingoonity.org/retro-gam … for-rg350/

When I go to project, midi, on my RG350 / pocketgoV2 I can see next midi line : DINGOO Serial.

What does it mean? Does it mean that something is recognized from USB C ports or not?

Ok, the second problem is that I can't understand the manual about midi :

In the manual, you normally can have an instrument specificly for midi, like that :

But I can see only the standard instrument for samples. Is it available only on computer version?

As the code of lgpt seems to be available on github someday I will maybe take a look on that but I don't really have time and I don't know where to start. But theorically if it can communicate with USB-C ports of the RG350 it should work no?

EDIT : maybe this, is a start... or not hahaha...

How do I specify "hat(0):..." in mapping.xml?

herr_prof says:

I'm mapping an xbox afterglow gamepad for piggy use.  The dpad is unfortunately the "hat" joystick axis.  What's the correct syntax for this in mapping.xml?

The piggy event dump for the dpad is this:

[EVENT] hat(0)::0::3
[EVENT] hat(0)::0::1
[EVENT] hat(0)::0::0
[EVENT] hat(0)::0::2

and what I've tried already is this:

<MAPPINGS>
<MAP src="hat:0:0" dst="/event/up" />
<MAP src="hat:0:2" dst="/event/down" />
<MAP src="hat:0:3" dst="/event/left" />
<MAP src="hat:0:1" dst="/event/right" />
<MAP src="but:0:0" dst="/event/a" />
<MAP src="but:0:1" dst="/event/b" />
<MAP src="but:0:2" dst="/event/a" />
<MAP src="but:0:3" dst="/event/b" />
<MAP src="but:0:5" dst="/event/rshoulder" />
<MAP src="but:0:4" dst="/event/lshoulder" />
<MAP src="but:0:7" dst="/event/start" />
<MAP src="but:0:6" dst="/tempo/tap" />
</MAPPINGS>

All the buttons work but the dpad does not and in the log the "attached blah blah" isn't there for the "hat" mappings either.

Help setting up LGPT on raspi

MazHoot says:

Hi, I just remembered last day that I had a raspberry pi and wanted to test LGPT on it (most for the midi possibilities...)

I followed the tutorial here : http://lgptpi.blogspot.com/p/instructio … pbian.html

I can start lgpt but the window is too small, I can't see nothing or with difficultly. With FULLSCREEN=YES it change nothing because, yea, it's on fullscreen, but, the size of the visual don't change, it's just a small window on center and black screen around it lol... (I use a TV I have only that for the hdmi display of my raspberry pi, I tryed on a computer screen with hdmi to vga adaptor but it don't work, display is not working)

On the tutorial there is something about a .xml configuration file but I downloaded only the build lgpt.rpi-exe (which seems to not be on the github link given on this tutorial). So I don't have a .xml file. The next step will be to configure a usb gamepad controller.

LGPT on pi boy or onanother raspi handheld console

Does anyone tried to run lgpt on pi boy? https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/33003964785.html

It has usb port so normally i should be able to send midi with my usb to midi cable (what i successfully do on my normal raspberry pi )

I think it should work but I don’t find on internet if retropie (pi boy’s os) can run application like lgpt instead of roms. If not do you think that raspbian can be running on pi boy? With screen working and buttons reacting like it was a gamepad controller

I also looked for gamepi43. Same questions...

Or if you have other devices suggesting me i’m ok.

My actual raspberry pi start automatically lgpt and i use it with gamepad. That’s cool but something with integrated screen + buttons + battery should be even more cool :-)

Survey: Interest of DIY RPi LGPT handheld.

mackemint says:

What fully-featured handhelds are people using in 2020 for running LGPT?
I'm using a Circuit Sword by Kite. USB MIDI is great, a dedicated mini-TRS serial MIDI would be greater.
The sound chip is awesome. Based around a CM102S+ USB audio interface, it has a built-in Dynamic Range Control, aka a master bus compressor that can be used for fun and profit.
My main complaint about Kites Circuit Sword is that the shoulder buttons are placed inconveniently for my weak, carpal tunnely hands. Also, the audio volume isn't very loud out of the box and requires manual hardware hacking.
I'm considering designing a handheld with a Gameboy Advance SP form factor and I'd like to make check of interest check for a project like this with good assembly instructions.

The unit I'm envisioning would run on a Raspberry Pi Zero (or maybe even a Banana Pi M2 Zero if I'm feeling adventurous).
This would be available as a DIY kit requiring soldering and light GBA SP case modification.
It will run the RetroPie distro and boot directly into Piggy and will therefore be able to run a plethora of retro games if one wants to switch to LSDJ or when one wants to kill time in between beatmaking.

This unit would have the following features:
Dedicated RetroPie image, aka burn to SD card get piggin'.
GBA SP form factor requiring minimal case modification.
Audio jack with volume that can go loud enough for plugging into a mixer.
A master bus compressor that can be "pushed" by adjusting the Piggy project / sample volume.
MIDI in/out over USB and / or MIDI out via 3.5-TRS jack.
Safe shutdown
Project available as a guide for sourcing parts and how to assemble it.
Cost of approximately $100 depending on how you choose to source parts.

My questions to you:
Is this project relevant or is there already a unit out there that ticks enough of these boxes?
Would you prefer USB MIDI or UART MIDI?
Do you have any suggestions?
What are your unanswered questions?

I've read a couple of threads that seem to imply that there is a desire for this kind of device and I'd love to contribute something to the beautiful LGPT community out there.

Cheers

sound problem (noizy) with LGPT on raspberry pi 3b+

I know there is other thread speaking about that but they are quite old. Is there other solution than use usb soundcard?

my device is a pi boy with raspberry pi 3b+ inside with retropie and emulation station.

The weird thing is that sound in emulators is ok but not in native applications (lgpt, the sound seems to be shitty on doom too).

@herr_prof helped me with an other raspberry pi but the problem was different  (at the end, sound was ok on the other pi) and also I don't want to broke the fonctionnality of pi boy so I prefer ask before try to reinstall alsa-sound... I'm a little afraid broking the screen displaying because I have no information about the screen and I saw on internet other peoples had problems using it if they try to reinstall

Hello hello! First post in an absolutely indecent amount of time, hope everyone's staying safe and well.

Having spent a few years out of the game I'm keen to get Pigging again, but alas my primary platform is MacOS and I'm running one of those new MacBook Airs that only does 64-bit apps.

I tried to do the decent thing and installed Xcode, download the source code and compile it myself, but I very soon hit errors that I had no idea how to solve. So is there a kind soul out there who might be able to get a 64-bit binary up and running? Would such a thing even be possible?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help or even give some pointers...

mapping.xml on gp2x f100

Hello,

I finally got a gp2x (f100) with midi interface. But I found the mapping keys completly garbage. A and B are at the opposite...

Do you know how to map it with config.xml? For have A on Right, close to B on Left like on the DMG-01 and all gameboys and like on sness controllers.

I already tested all these :

Knife Crimes says:

Hey Y'all.

Havn't been on these forums in MANY years and havn't used LPGT for even longer since my PSP was stolen back in 2012.

Anyway, I still don't have a new PSP but downloaded the piggy on windows and have been tinkering with it using default samples. I remember waaay back I stumbled on a thread that had a lot of people linking different sample packs ready to install and use on the tracker but now I can't find that thread. I've found a couple packs here and there so far but does anybody have a database they use to find cool samples to use or maybe even the link to this thread I've lost?

Hope everybody is staying safe and healthy these days!

Thanks in advance for any help here!
