I have been eyeballing the GCW Zero handheld and noticed they added ALSA MIDI support on the official website. I was just wondering how feasible it was that we will have MIDI functionality with the GCW Zero and piggy? I think it looks like a great little handheld and I'm super interested in piggy.

piggy not starting on Raspberry Pi
hello all!
just got a raspberry pi 3 running raspbian (jessie). I am trying to run the piggy on that amawing device.
I followed the instructions from http://wiki.hexawe.net/doku.php?id=lgpt
stallation and when I click on the lgpt.deb-exe file, I get a dialog asking if I want to execute the file. I click on execute and nothing happens.
when running sudo ./lgpt.deb-exe in terminal I get the following error message : "./lgpt.deb-exe: 1: ./lgpt.deb-exe: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

thanks in advance!!
Port Piggy Tracker to 3DS?
Is this a task someone would like to do? I would be forever thankful if someone ported Piggy Tracker to 3DS!
Piggy + Raspbian Stretch on a Pi 2 = Successful Build

I've just discovered Piggy can officially run on a Pi 2 with Raspbian Stretch!
UPDATE:
Pi Image Now Available For 4 GB + SD Cards
(8 GB + recommended)
Some notes:
Pros:
- the best USB soundcards to use contain a CM108 chipset
- audio buffer at 128 runs smoothly
- did not need to setup xbox drivers
- no pulseaudio problems with this method (provided the alsa.conf file is edited correctly depending on your USB soundcard)
- looks beautiful even on a small screen
- basic MIDI out notation works without any noticeable latency issues (just need to test CC effects)
Cons
- it will take some time and patience to get this going successfully
- still don't know if LGPT works on a Pi 3 with this method
- auto-boot from console and lxsessions has given me problems or just a completely black screen
- and as usual, built-in audio sucks
Give this a shot and let me know if there's anything else discovered or if there's other issues to note!
LGPT Keymapping like LSDJ? (also syncing ability on PC?)
I currently use LSDJ with BGB on my PC with the keymapping of
A: space
B: backspace
Select: shift
Start: enter
(I know this probably sounds unnatural for some people but this is the workflow that I'm used to)
I want to use LGPT on the PC with a similar keymapping to this. Does anyone know how to do this/have a keymap configuration I can copypaste?
(Bonus question: Also, is it possible to sync LGPT PC version and LSDJ on BGB?)
Does LGPT run on linux with alsa or pulse audio? (Solved, mostly)
Does LGPT run on linux with either alsa or pulse? It said it couldn't fine libjackwhatever.so but I'd rather not run jackaudio, I like my alsa and pulse setup.
New Handheld - RS-97
Just wanted to post here publicly about the RS-97 handheld. It uses the same shell as the Revo K101 GBA clone console, but it is NOT a Revo K101! Here's a few nice features:
OpenDingux compatibility
nice bright high resolution screen (320x480)
plenty of buttons for emulators
rca tv out (can be spotty with some apps)
headphone jack with stereo output
charging via mini usb
internal and external SD micro SD card support (up to 32gb)
emulators for basically every console (I played through warioware GBA and had no issues)
you can actually buy them and they're only $50 (biggest feature IMO)
Initially the distributed lgpt dingoo binary did not work due to the RS-97 having twice the vertical resolution as the dingoo, so the screen was super squished. I'm happy to report I've worked with some of the awesome RS-97 community to add LGPT support. As of now as far as I can tell everything works (the 10k demo song plays totally fine).
The one disappointment is that we have not been able to get MIDI working. The RS-97 includes the GBA link port from the K101, but it's not functional. I modded my console to re-wire a UART to the link port and then connected a USB to Serial adapter on the other end. I can succsessfully get serial debug data out of the console, but as soon as you activate the serial port in LGPT it dies. I can't imagine that it's going to be a ton of work to get it working fully, but it will require a hardware mod and a special gba-midi cable or adapter (pretty trivial to make).
I have purchased two from eBay and they are different hardware revisions but both work fine with LGPT.

Instruments are swapping (I’m new here and could need some help)
Hey guys,
I’m totally new here and was just about to start my creative process with lgpt on my PSP.
My problem is probably just a misunderstanding of the programs mechanics tho.. so if I start building a beat and then swap the instrument, the previous made beat swaps as well, eventhough I’m in a different chain and phrase ( i.e. i started with the bass drum and wanted to add clapping, but when I import the clap sample the bass drum swaps to clapping as well..)
I hope somebody is able to tell me what I’m doing wrong :)

- and as usual, built-in audio sucks
- there's occassional audio clicking and bad "feedback"
Note: While this works well on a Pi 2, LGPT has been known to crash on occassion. If this is a real problem while performing live, it would be safe to run LGPT on a Pi 1 B+ with custom higher audio-buffer settings as I've had no crash issues as of 2019 with this setup. Give this a shot and let me know if there's anything else discovered or if there's other issues to note!
best device for MIDI with LGPT
Hey guys,
It's been a long time since i've touched any chipmusic gear but im finally back at it and i was curious about the state of LGPT in 2019...
I'm managed to get my PSP 1001 running again and surprisingly still works well with LGPT but the lack of midi really makes it hard to try and use it live with any other gear (ideally with a couple of gameboys running LSDJ synced with MIDI)
So i was wondering what would be the best device to buy that would have an easy way to sync over MIDI with lsdj gameboys (DMG gameboys)
I was thinking of building my own raspberry Pi based LGPT device but a project like that would still get quite complicated and not very gig friendly with all the wires and stuff...
Noob sample chopping question
Hi... I'm just starting to experiment with LGPT really.
I'd like to play around with chopping up drum breaks for some jungle/breakcore style tunes and I am just wondering if there's a trick to this on LGPT?
I guess use the RETRIG and maybe PLOF commands to get started?
Another New Handheld: LDK Game

Purchase: https://retromimi.com/products/opending ce-console
Looks to be pretty similar specs to the RS-97 but in a different style case. The screen looks to be the same resolution as the RS-97 and it can run RetroFW, so I imagine that Piggy builds that work for the RS-97 will work for it as well.
I might pick one up to try out the different shape, since i find the shoulder buttons on the RS-97 a little unpleasant to use due to the small height.
Multiple effects on the same line using the wrong values (Bug?)
It looks like using volume and delay on the same line is broken. The delay seems to be using the values from the volume command and the values on the delay command don't seem to do anything.

HEY DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY CONFIG FILES FOR THIS?
LGPT sync to nanoloop via CV
Hello, I'm trying to sync nanoloop 2 to lgpt via audio out making a cv signal.
Any tips ? I'm using catskull analog sync but not sure of the signal.
do 3.5mm ts/trs to midi connectors work with PSP/vita?
or am I pretty much gonna have to buy a pi handheld to do midi stuff?
one of these (dunno if trs/ts matters at all for midi, these seem new):
Running on a PS VITA?
Hey all!
I have a Playstation Vita and I was wondering how I could run LGPT on it?
I know the PS Vita can run PSP apps that are downloaded, and I can access the files via the utility for Mac/PC so putting it in isn't the problem.
I just need to know how it would be installed like what file directory it goes into and those sorts of things.
Thanks!

Bittboy Pocket (Go)
Just posting here that LGPT is running well on Bittboy Pocket and Bittboy Pocket GO. The Pocket Go is a pretty nice handheld, the build quality is better than all the other current emulator handhelds. The only downside is a 30hz screen so it's pretty bad for gaming. But for LGPT, it's absolutely perfect.
If there's interest, I could buy some Pocket Go's and offer them on my store preflashed with CFW and ready to go. Otherwise, they're available most places for about $40.
ODROID Go Advance
This has the potential to be the ultimate LGPT handheld.
At first glance, it doesn't really seem to be anything special versus the other dingux handhelds floating around right now. But there's two things about this particular handheld that really set it apart: full size USB host port, and an expansion port with some GPIO. This means likely USB MIDI devices could work on this.
Obviously this is all just guesswork at this point (it releases at the end of the month), but if we got LGPT ported to it and the MIDI stuff pans out, this could be really interesting!
The price is great at $55, but you have to assemble it yourself. Looks easy enough though, so it should be fun.
I'll order one when they're available. If anyone knows any developers I'm happy to pay for a port of LGPT. I imagine it will be pretty easy since the linux/dingux ports are already working.

LGPT midi slave
Hi!
I’m wondering if someone knows a way of making LGPT sync to an external clock signal (either by midi or analog pulse, from a volca or modular).
I like the tracker but don’t want it to be my master clock (I have gear that doesn’t send a clock signal and therefore I use an KORG EMX-1 detect its tempo and then I sync everything from the emx).
If it’s not possible, do you have any idea of a similar tracker that can be synced to an external clock source.
